The Greene County Community Schools board presented its initial offer to the Greene County Education Association at a special meeting Feb. 27.
The board’s proposal is not to increase the base pay for the 2023-24 school year above the current base of $33,350.
Instead, the district would make one-time payments to current teachers in the district as well as new teachers in the district as depending on how quickly they return their contracts for the 2023-24 school years. Teachers who return a signed contract between Days 1 and 7 after receiving it would get $1,250. Those who return a signed contract between Days 8 and 14 would get $1,000; and new teachers to the district and current teachers who return a signed contract between Days 15 and 21 would get $750.
Cost to the district is calculated at $339,346 if all employees return contracts within Day 1 and Day 7, an increase of 4.2 percent over negotiated wages in the current year.
